In line with national policies of overall development of civil aviation and the opening of Taoyuan International Airport (TPE, formerly known as Chiang Kai-Shek International Airport), Ministry of Transportation & Communications and China Airlines organized Taoyuan International Airport Services on December 1st 1978.

The shareholders are China Airlines 49%, Ministry of Transportation & Communications 45% and UPS 6%.
